As a Madeiran tho i have to correct you on something: Your Statement “Coral is the local beer brand, and while it’s now owned by Heineken” is actually not true at all. Coral is still very much a Madeiran Brand, as well as owned and produced locally!

Also not to nitpick but checking the spelling of some dishes would be advisable (like: Peixe espada pretA, bolo dO caco).

Thanks Jerry! I’ve been trying to dig up an answer for you for the past week, but no luck yet. I know it usually falls the weekend before and after the religious date of August 20 “dia de Nossa Senhora d’Agonia” – so in 2026 I’d guess the dates will be 15-23 August (give or take a day).
