Yes, winter is a great time to visit! Usually the weather here is better than most of Europe, and a bit warmer! Good for exploring – though this winter is much colder than last year.

Monsanto and the Madeira island look truly magical. I love those houses near boulders in Monsanto and also the blue-green lake . Your images are beautiful! Definitely worth visiting Monsanto if you like quieter, small villages. Such a beautiful landscape!

But your post has added some new spots for a future visit. We have not yet visiting in winter nor have we visited Monsanto. So one for the list for sure. Can’t wait to get back to Portugal.
